Stay informed without leaving FileWave. In 16.1, administrators will now see helpful release announcements directly within FileWave Central and Anywhere. These notifications appear at login or after upgrading, with concise summaries of new features, improvements, and key updates—plus direct links to learn more. Designed to be clear and unobtrusive, you can dismiss a message once it’s reviewed or simply close it to revisit later. It’s an easy way to stay current with what’s new in FileWave, right from the tools you use every day. Look forward to an even more refined experience in FileWave 16.2.0, coming later this summer.
FileWave 16.1 introduces a new in-app button to access the AI Chatbot directly from Central and Anywhere, making it easier to get fast answers and guidance without leaving the interface. It’s the same trusted assistant from our Knowledge Base, now more accessible. If you prefer not to use the feature, it can be disabled in Preferences. The chatbot runs entirely in the cloud—no data is processed locally, ensuring your privacy and system performance are unaffected.
FileWave 16.1 brings full support for Apple’s Spring 2025 platform updates, including tvOS 18.4, iPadOS, and iOS 18.5. Highlights include battery health reporting for iPadOS, and the ability to enforce beta program enrollment directly within DEP profiles. New MDM restrictions allow tighter control over Apple Intelligence features, default apps, Safari summaries, and Mail smart replies. Updates also include support for Apple’s new “Safety and Handling” DEP skip key, idle reboot automation, and expanded DDM visibility within FileWave Client Info. Account-Driven Enrollment is now enabled by default, simplifying domain association through Apple Business/School Manager without requiring manual DNS configuration. Lastly, we have added initial detection for macOS/iOS/tvOS 26 for those who are using it in beta.

FileWave 16.1 introduces a major backend enhancement for hosted environments: Filesets are now distributed via a secure, private CDN and delivered to Boosters over HTTPS. This change enables efficient streaming, improves deployment performance, and reduces bandwidth and storage costs—benefits that directly enhance both FileWave’s scalability and the experience for our hosted customers. This feature will be enabled in phases so you may not notice it active immediately. For more details about our Hosted offering see the KB article here.
