This bulletin applies to all FileWave customers running FileWave Client on macOS.
Beginning July 30, 2026, macOS systems may display a warning that FileWave Client has been blocked because it is suspected of being malicious. This issue is limited to FileWave Client on macOS and affects all managed macOS systems. No other FileWave components are affected. iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, visionOS, Windows, Android, ChromeOS, and Linux are not affected.
The warning is caused by a code-signing certificate issue. FileWave software is not malicious, and this is not a security compromise. We are working on a resolution and will provide follow-up instructions as soon as they are available.
As part of a planned transition coordinated with Apple, FileWave closed its original Apple Developer account. Unfortunately, Kiosk-related code distributed with FileWave Client for macOS had not been updated to use the replacement signing certificate before the account was closed. macOS now treats that code as untrusted and may flag FileWave Client as suspected malware.
Security logs on affected Macs may contain the following entries:
UWMR88SA8Gcom.filewave.fwcld.pkgMalwareDiscovered2These log entries reflect the certificate status. They do not indicate malicious code.
No action is required at this time. Do not bypass the warning or reduce macOS security settings.
FileWave is preparing remediation steps and will update this post as soon as they are ready. If you contact FileWave Support about this issue, please reference Technical Bulletin 2026-004.
